Mario Testino was born in 1954 to a traditional Catholic family. He went to school in
London and first became involved in photography after taking an apprenticeship with John Vickers and Paul Nugent. He was inspired by how photographers were able to photograph people and ideas/culture just with portraits and fashion photography.
His work encompasses society in color and artistic patterns. He is able to photograph culture well when he takes pictures of fashion photography. I also really like how he uses color and shadows to accentuate details and features.
He loves to take pictures of people to encompass his youth. His work encompasses “an evolution in my work…when I tried to recreate my youth in pictures.” “I am obsessed with people and how to make them look their best.”
I really enjoy him because he uses shadows really well and I like how he uses color. The way he encompasses his culture in his photos represnts him well in his work. After today, I will try to show my life more through my pictures.
His pictures had more definition and shape than mine because he photographed with better light. However, we both used line well. Both of our photos also have unity and balance.
I took these pictures when my cousin was getting ready for Beauty and the Beast. She took a shower and did her makeup so I thought it would best to take pictures while she was getting ready. I really like the shadows I got of her and how I accentuated the color.
